At Comcast Ventures
Derek oversees legal activities at Comcast Ventures for new portfolio investments. He advises Comcast Ventures business personnel on structuring transactions, drafting and negotiating investment agreements, and coordinating legal due diligence efforts. Derek also provides advice to CV personnel on matters relating to existing portfolio companies and works with the management of CV portfolio companies on legal issues.

Derek also serves as Senior Deputy General Counsel of Comcast, responsible for acquisitions, divestitures, investments, joint ventures and other corporate transactions.

Before Comcast Ventures
Prior to joining Comcast, Derek was an associate at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, where his practice focused on venture capital and other private equity transactions.

Education and Extracurricular
Derek graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Economics and Government from Dartmouth College and received his J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. Derek also volunteers with the Support Center for Child Advocates, representing victims of child abuse and neglect, and serves on the Volunteer Committee of that organization.
