Comcast Ventures Invests in FanDuel
Consumer | January 30, 2013 | By Nigel Eccles
FanDuel is the leading game operator in daily fantasy sports, a new sector of the fantasy sports realm that is revolutionizing how fantasy sports games are played.
FanDuel differs from traditional fantasy sports where league winners are only declared after the entire multi-month season ends. With FanDuel, the leagues last one day and prizes are paid out immediately by our site as soon as games finish.
With more than 30 million people playing fantasy sports, we are primed for incredible growth. FanDuel has already grown rapidly over the past 12 months, developing mobile offerings and signing partnerships with brands such as Sports Illustrated and Sporting News. In 2012 alone, we paid out $50 million in league winnings, up from $10 million in 2011, and we had over 6 million fantasy line-ups entered into our daily leagues.
Along with Comcast Ventures, we are fortunate to have investments from Piton Capital, Pentech Ventures, Bullpen Capital, Scottish Enterprise, and serial investor Richard Koch.
We look forward to continuing to change the landscape of fantasy sports with Comcast Ventures as our newest partner.
